Spiritual Care Week

Each year, during the nationally celebrated Spiritual Care Week, the Institute focuses on the vital role of spiritual care in promoting healing, compassion, and human connection. Throughout the week, we honor the caregivers who embody whole-person care and the profound difference they make in the lives of patients, families, and communities.

Healing Hands

Healing Hands celebrates the individuals whose compassion, presence, and dedication bring comfort and healing to others. Through photographs of their hands and brief personal stories, we honor our Spiritual Care Champions and the meaningful ways they embody whole-person care.

Mellissa Lewis

For over 20 years, Melissa worked at St. Mark’s Terrace before transitioning to Community Housing Services. Alternating between St. Mark’s Terrace and Union Gardens, she dedicates all of her efforts to working with senior residents. In this meaningful and rewarding work, Melissa’s most important role is to build “relations with residents … creating trust and being able to support them.”

Our Spiritual Care Champions are dedicated healthcare professionals who embody the values of compassion, connection, and whole-person care. Through their close partnership with Spiritual Care teams and their everyday acts of kindness, empathy, and service, they help foster a culture of healing and support for patients, families, and colleagues.
